L'Oreal Colour Trophy Grand Final 2014

Faye, Tanya & Mia making the most of their night out in London! #LCT14

After not being to London for the Grand Final of the LCT for 8 years myself, it was nice to be back.  This time it was not for my own achievements but for those of our very own Mia!  Mia was representing Harrison Hair Studio and flying the flag for Liverpool in the LCT Young Colourist Award.

It was great to return to London for the awards but sadly it was not to be our night, with the winner of the award going to a very strong young colourist from Reuben Wood hair & beauty, Manchester.  Mia who turned 21 years old just a couple of weeks ago can be very proud of successfully reaching the final in London for being in the top 5 young colourists in the Northwest and the top 35 in the whole of the UK.  If you think about it like that you can see how well she has done!

Now that she’s been to the grand final in London, hopefully this will give her the appetite to return next year and push herself to be the best.  If so, we can then go for one or two cocktails and a good old dance again (not that we did that this year, honest)!

The 59th year of the L’Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy will not disappoint and we are delighted to have Mia Daly from Harrison Hair Studio within the Regional line up of the L’Oréal Professionnel Young Colourist Award.

“I am absolutely over moon to have got through to the regional final, it’s such a big opportunity for me as I’m only 20 years old and only just starting my hairdressing career.  I’m excited but so nervous at the same time, I just want to make everyone at the salon proud of me and hope I get through to the Grand Final in London”

Hundreds of photographic entries were judged by the hairdressing industries most inspiring and iconic names including, Paul Dennison, Kate Wilson, Mario Charalambous, Siobhan Jones and Sibi Bolan. Mia Daly from Harrison Hair Studio fought of stiff competition and was successfully chosen to take part in the live finals held in June.

As one of the judges for the L’Oréal Colour Trophy 2014, Kate Wilson from Trevor Sorbie explains why winning is so exciting for a young colourist:

“The most exciting thing about the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Young Colourist category is the fact that it is a fantastic opportunity for colourists under the age of 25, to receive some amazing education within the first 12 months!”

Mia Daly will now take part in the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Young Colourist Award final at the L’Oréal Professionnel International Academy in [location] on the [location]. The winners will now be put to the test, completing a number of demanding colouring techniques in only 2 hours 45 minutes. Finalists will also be put through an interview procedure and will have to explain to the category judges why they want to be a colourist.

Each Young Colourist Regional Winner will become part of the L’Oréal Professionnel Colour Academy 2014/15, which is a comprehensive one-year development programme. The winners will be inspired and educated by award winning colourists from the UK. They will also be mentored through a bespoke programme during their winning year, a fantastic opportunity for any Young Colourist with a passion for colour.

“This year the entries have taken inspiration from all sorts of areas. The catwalk, fashion and also from the streets. This is exciting and something new for 2014!” Siobhan Jones, Headmasters. 2014 Judge.
